MG MGB Technical - Loose nut for choke pull

Hello all. The choke pull on my '71 B came loose. I can't seem to reach it from under, does this require taking the dash off?
Napoleon

I managed to do it without removing the dash (with difficulty).

The nut will have slid along the cable and should be easily recoverable.

I think I used a wooden wedge to ease things apart enough to reconnect things again.

I tried for 10 minutes and could not get my hand in there. Now I know that it CAN be done without taking out the dash I will try until I succeed. Thanks.

I used a tube spanner (wrench).I cut a slot lengthwise down the spanner wide enough to pass over the cable & then slid it back to locate the nut. In my case it was a sparkplug spanner supplied with a lawnmower. The car is a '78 ,it might be a different size nut on a '71 but the same method should still work. Barrie E

I would remove the tachometer and then you can reach right in.

Don't you hate it when someone comes up with a simple suggestion. Even more when it works, thanks Conrad. Ric

I have never taken out the tach but I assume it's easier than trying to reach in there. Thanks for the suggestions.
