MG MGB Technical - low end jerk

On the road my B runs great and smooth, but at low speeds it will have a slight jerk. Talking like 20 mph just cruising through a park, you will feel a very light jerk every now and then. It does have a high lift cam. Is that what I feel or could there be other issues?
John

If it's every now and again it is unlikely to be the cam as that would cause it every firing cycle, and on all cylinders unless there is a problem with only one lobe. Does the tach flick down at the same time? If so it is an electrical problem, but I'd expect that to be more obvious at higher speeds than lower.

Vaccuum advance unit?

Is it a clunk? Could it be wear in your diff? I get this clunk from time to time but I think nothing of it.
Ross Kelly

What gear would you be in at 20 MPH. Direct 4th would not be a good choice with a high lift cam. I have had this problem and posted recently about worn butterfly spindle bushes as a cause.

Oops - thought this thread might be about Triumph owners from the header ....:-)
