MG MGB Technical - Lowering the rear suspension

1972 MGB
I'd like to lower the back of my MGB, but, less than the 1 in that the Moss kit provides. I find after lowering the front, the back is a little to high. I figure with a full tank and /or 2 people the back is going to come down a little anyway, so fitting a 1 in kit suddenly might give me a 2 in drop. So, how can i get her down about 1/2 in unloaded, i'd still like a little rake. My leafs are good with plenty of spring left in them.

What to do, what to do

1/2" spacer between axle and spring each side? Probably won't even have to get extended U-bolts with that. If you make them yourself you will have to replicate the hole and boss to retain the correct location.

Thanks for replying to my ?on lowering a B by less than 1in. You mentioned making up a spacer. How would somebody go about that. The Moss one seems cast.I understand about the hole and the boss, are you talking about 1/2 in steel drilling hole and welding boss on top ?
What about removing a leaf spring ?

Hi,

Simly get some half inch steel plate, remove spring and measure the size you need to cut it to. Drill out to locate over spring locating dowel and fit. Probobly be enough of the dowel protruding through a half inch spacer to locate the spring onto the axle,

An alternative to spacing is turning over a leaf (an old leaf in this case ho ho) but the results will be unpredictable.

There is a bolt and a spacer tube on the springs, and it is the spacer tube that does the location. If that doesn't stick through far enough you could use a longer bolt and tube.

give Doug jackson a call, he doesn't do the U bolts any more but he's still got some half inch stackable blocks. Should be cheap enough to post.
