MG MGB Technical - MGB GT Race Car

I was wondering if anyone on here has links to the racing heritage of the B GT? Any good websites out there with information on MG's racing ventures?

Now that I have my GT running again and everything is mechanically sound, it is time to proceed with the original master plan to build th GT in an AutoX and occasional track car. Any thoughts, opinions, or recommendations are welcome. Thanks to all who check this thread out.

Hi D.T.
There is a man in Goode who owns a MG garage and does compete in vintage races with his works MGB from the mid 60's. The car was even entered in the 6 hours of Sebring.
He might have info on preparing a MG for racing. His business has the name MG Matters. Phone # 540-586-0757
I bought a new upgraded front suspension fron Hoyle engineering in the UK. It has coil over shocks and is the best upgrade I have seen so far. will install it this year on my "B" when the body is rebuild. Engine is a Rover V8 with 5-speed. Car is a RB from '77
Where do you live in Va ?

DT,
I've got a book called "MGB The Racing Story" by John Baggott. Not the most thrilling of reads you'll find but it is difficult to believe that it is not comprehensive! It's available on amazon.co.uk, don't know whether you can get it in the colonies!

DT. "The Works MGs" by Mike Allison and Peter Browning is one reference. "Works Wonders" by Marcus Chambers is another. MGBs saw rather limited racing use, by the factory, because they were concentrating on the A-H 3000 and Mini. About the time BL came about, the competition department was done away with.

Might want to check out Dick Luening's web site.
http://www.mgbracing.com/ His shop is all about MG racing.

I use my 71 roadster for autox and occasional track days. Email me with any questions.

Right on, thank to everyone for the info. You guys are great as always. Been away from the board for a bit while I finished up getting the G running and moving it to my new garage. But now I'm back, and I remember why I enjoy this board so much.

Werner - I'm down in Yorktown.

Neil - I'll check and see if I can get my hands on that book.

Les - Thanks for the info, I kept doing some research after I posted here, and found a lot of privateer efforts, but unfortunately there wasn't a huge effort from the Factory...

BEC - Will check that site out, thanks for all the help.

Martin - Right on, I will be in touch, thanks.

And to anyone else who races the MG (AutoX, Track, etc.) feel free to post here and hopefully we can share the wealth of information that others have accrued as the put their LBC through its paces.
