MG MGB Technical - MGB-GT rear Panels

Have a '74.5 MGB-GT which has rustat bottom of both rear fender panels. Any good source for these out there and what would be the best way to take these off? Or should I patch the areas (lower back corners)? Happy motoring!

I assume you mean the piece behind the rear wheel. I don't know of a repair panel for that part short of buying a complete wing (fender). The usual problem is the piece in front of the rear wheel, and a repair panel is available for that.

The rust is in front of the reat tire. What sources are there for that piece? Thanks!

John,
The part is shown here on the Moss-Europe site - it's part number 49. http://www.moss-europe.co.uk/Shop/ViewProducts.aspx?PlateIndexID=14

However, when this piece goes rotten, it usually means that the sill, which is immediately behind it has also rotted, so be prepared when you cut the outer panel off to find lots more corrosion in the structural members behind.

If the rear fender is rotten behind the wheel then you will most likely have some rust in the inner fender wells too, and possibly the area under the light. The rear quarter panel is available and relatively easy to install, the benefit being that you can easily repair the inner fenders at this time. Have a look at my "B" restoration/rebuild web site and you will see that this is exactly what I have done. The right side was actually in pretty good shape except for some previous damage resulting in rust. Anyway, it might be better in the long run to replace the whole quarter panel. You will then have the chance to check out other rust spots.

John this was my car when the rear fender was removed. Don't want to depress you, but it's as well you know what might be there.
