MG MGB Technical - MGB Tyre recommendation

I want to replace the tyres on my roadster, and have been very happy with the 175/70 Yokohamas that I have had for the last few years. What are the current best options?? I have been offered Falkens... what is the opinion of these? Many thanks

With the genuine promise and quality of tyre (I've seen them at the NEC) I wouldn't hesitate to buy Blockley tyres.

Take it easy on them for the first 30 miles and then drive them as you like and if you don't think they're great you get your money back.

"These are the best tyres you will ever have driven on. And if after 1,000 miles of use you do not agree, we will give you a refund! These Blockley 165R14 tyres are E Marked and DOT marked (for use in the USA)."

Modern tyres of the last few years have changed a lot and less suitable for small, light (very light by modern standard) sports style cars than even a few years ago let alone say 10 years ago.

Excellent price for the quality. - https://www.blockleytyre.com/product/165hr14

I fitted 175/70 Goodyears and have been very impressed with them.

Falkens are a budget tyre with good reviews. I have recently had a set fitted to my MGB and they perform well. If you go for Falken get the Sincera 832 not any other. Circa £270 for 4. I also get the impression they are phasing them out but I could be wrong. In June I battled to find a set.

My 1979 MGB has 185/70 R 14 Good Year tires. It's a more comfortable ride, handling and the speedometer is correct.

I've fitted Avon ZTF 185/70 R14 to my 1980 Roadster having had to replace some fabulous Goodyear NCTs due to their age. (The NCTs gave a very predictable ride particularly on twisty country roads)
The Avons give a beautiful smooth ride & as i have got more familiar with their handling, which is different from the NCTs, am impressed & do not regret changing.
Cheers

I have Avon 175/70 R14. Speedo and Odo are pretty close. I previously ran some cheapo Polish tyres from Kwickfit which were 185/65, handling was great in both wet and dry but ground clearance not so good. They wore out pretty quickly too, must have been soft rubber. Fitted 3/4" anti roll bar with the Avons which helped a lot. Ride is pretty good. I chose the Avons over Verdistein thinking they were British but they were made in China. They don't seem to be wearing much so will have to be chucked before they wear out. Overall I'm pleased with the Avons.

Avon used to be British but like the Yanks we sold our souls to the Chinese, and others, after we'd finished mortgaging it to our American friends.
