MG MGB Technical - MOT failure due to EPAS
Hello all, My 'P' reg 'F' has just failed it's MOT due to the power steering not working, among other things. I was under the impression that this was not a problem and 'normal' steering was implemented when the EPAS was off. Of course I was quoted £900 + VAT + fitting to get a new steering column. So 2 question Should it have failed the MOT? And, the EPAS came on about 3 years ago along with the airbag light after it had been jump started a number of times. My imediate thought was electrical but the local garage wanted to replace everything (of course!) So any ideas what the issue could be? Thanks |

I'm sure that's not a failure - if there's a warning light on you could always take out the fuse and pretend it doesn't have EPAS! :) See here fore a list of requirements: http://www.motester.co.uk/cog.html Cheers, Tim |

Sorry, just read that and it says "Power steering checked with engine running" - but I still don't think it should be a fail? Cheers, Tim |

Yeah had a look at this before. But doesn't really tell you what they are looking for. Odd cos it passed for 2 years with it 'not working' |

Try taking it somewhere else for its test. |
