MG MGB Technical - My body is back !

Just in case anyone is interested - my Heritage shell, which I prepared, rear arches modified, rear pan deseamed etc, is back from teh paint shop - see photo. There will be many questions of detail on this site ! I have just put the engine / box in from underneath to reduce sweat ! Cheers, Andrew

Looks terrific. You are so lucky to have that size of workshop. I'm green with envy.

Just remember when working around it that the paint will not have fully hardened yet. I also am quite jealous :-)

Andrew, beautiful job....Wher are the inter wing (fender) panels?
rich osterhout

Thanks for the compliments ! Lot of hard work in that - the BMH shell is not just a get it and paint it job !!! All panels came off for the paint, then reassembled and resprayed. Inner wing panels, valance etc still to be fitted, but painted ready. Watch this space for more photos ! Regards to all, Andrew

Heck of a project Andrew. It is great to say I restored my MGB GT, but you are actually building one.

Great finish Andrew. What is the colour?
Can you detail what preparation you did to the removable panels (wings, doors etc) prior to the final assembly and spray. It would be useful to know as I have a similar sequence to plan for my '72 roadster.

I meant the paint prep of course. I suspect any panel fettling would be unique if my car is anything to go by!

Hi Richard,

Removed doors, bonnet, boot, front wings. Painted all hinges and then fitted. Painted all edges of removed panels. Fitted up, aligned and then re-painted.

Doors particularly need to be removed to spray the bottom and edges properly. My bodyshop turned them upside down too. Hope this helps. Andrew
