MG MGB Technical - New Doors

Has anyone fitted new doors bought from Moss? I am about to fit new doors to a 1978 GT and wondered if this will be straightforward or if there are any issues I should be aware of. Any advice appreciated.

New doors from China (north korea)! Why would they fit well? Be sure and strip them and prime yourself because that steel they use (n korea) not for car parts, and will rust to bits in your hands. And probably has a hidden bug powered by the electrolysis occuring inside them, which will take your credit card information and send it along to the n korean embassey.

Rod, I used two new Heritage doors bought from MGB Hive when I rebuilt my GT nearly a decade ago. I was replacing sills and wings as well, so I hung the doors first and built the car to fit around them, as the doors were the hardest part to alter the shape of. I would be surprised if a new door was a really good fit when put into an existing door opening.

One of the issues with the MGB door design is that the leading edge of the door comes outside the front wing as it opens. Check out most other cars and you find the leading edge goes inside the front wing when open. The MGB design means that you can't have a tiny gap at the front edge of the door since it will strike the wing every time it opens. Mine is fine on the passenger door, but just nicks the wing on the driver's door. After hours of work, that was the best I could achieve. Paul Hunt has some useful info on door hanging here:

I wouldn't buy from Moss - too big, too impersonal an outfit. The MGB Hive were very good to deal with and the doors have stood the test of time so far. I sprayed them liberally inside with Dinitrol and there is no sign of corrosion ten years later.

Thanks for that Mike. Unfortunately the car belongs to the daughter of a friend and the doors have already been bought. Let you know how it goes.

I only deal with the big boys now. Not immune from problems, but good service from Moss when raised. Too much bad stuff from the other lot, and initially not interested in doing anything about it.

Paul- Big boys meaning Moss, or too much bad stuff from Moss who are not interested in making right?
Not sure anybody can crack your code here without a few hints.

It's a conversation, following on from Mike's final paragraph, but taking the opposite view based on experience with both parties.
