MG MGB Technical - Nissan/Rover Alloy Wheels

Hi,

I'm looking for some cheap(ish) alloy options and have the opportunity to buy some Nissan Primera or Rover 600 wheels which are supposed to fit MG PCD.

Has anyone used the older nissan primera alloys and/or rover 600 alloys.

Or: know of some good cheap alternatives?

Ta,

Iwan: For literally decades, I have used a set of Datsun 240ZX steel wheels for winter wheels on my MGB-GT. They fit as though they were made for the car.

It must be a Missouri "thing", I have an 80 Limited Edition with Datsun 6 spoke "Z" type wheels. They came with the car and, as John notes, they're a perfect fit with the 185 size tires that the LE uses. The center wheel hubs are fitted with MG emblem and are likely from Moss so look authentic. Take a look at www.zparts.com and look for Nissan 6 spoke wheels to see what they look like. I've considered searching for some LE wheels for authenticity, but the Datsun wheels look much better on the car. The wheels are 14 by 6 and the 4 bolt pattern is a perfect match.

Iwan, the real trick are the 15" rims off the turbo "Z"
models the fitment is perfect. Ric

Hi,

Thanks for the input.

Trouble is that Datsun 240Z's were not that common this side of the pond.

I know that many Datsun - later Nissan wheels were ok. Just wanted some more 'modern' ones than the 240Z.

Cheers,

Iwan,

Many jap cars have the righ whell bolt pattern like Honda Accord or Toyota. Easy to find and cheap, but pay attention to ofset.

The "more modern" wheels are most likely to come from a FWD car. Even if the stud pattern is correct, the offset will be wrong. I'm afraid you're stuck with the "older" looking wheels. Barrie E
