MG MGB Technical - Quality Rubber Bushings?

I replaced the rubber suspension bushings in my Ž63 MGB with blue Autobush poly bushings five years ago, and they are still in first class condition. But occasionally I miss the suppleness of the original rubber bushings.

Does anyone know if it is possible to get quality rubber bushings somewhere, or is the quality as bad as it was five years ago? The reason I installed poly was that the rubber suspension bushings lasted less then two years.

The Poly bushes come in various grades of elasticity - you need to talk to a specialist. Your assessment of the quality of the rubber bushes still holds - skidt!

Try a set of Superflex polyurethane bushings. They are self-lubricating once installed. They even include stainless steel sleeves so that rust cannot abrade them. If you want to purchase a softer set (that is, soft like rubber bushings) that are appropriate for use in a daily driver, go to http://www.racecar.co.uk/SuperFlex and specify 80 Shore-A bushing material.

Agree with Stephen

Superflex was able to provide me with a nice road busing or a more robust one. I went with the road one and I am very pleased with the results. Because they are machined, they fit excellently. A little of the provided lube on the stainless collars and they slip right on and into the busing housing.

Thanks everybody. IŽll have a look at Superflex.

The plastic bushings wear.

Use the same Metelastic bushes used on the MGB GT V8. They don't turn on the pins, they flex and so never wear until they finally suffer rubber degradation, usually decades later. They give a firm but not too firm ride. I use them on all my street MGs.
