MG MGB Technical - Rocker cover shim

Hello,

I am just in the process of reinstalling the rocker assembly. However I have noticed on Moss that there is a pedestal tensioning shim which should go on the middle two pedestals. My concern is that I haven't seen one of these on the two cylinder heads I own and am not convinced whether they should be fitted or just if required.

Does anyone have any experience of this?

Many thanks
Alex Davies

There were fitted to later engines and recommended to be retro-fitted to earlier when the rockers are removed for any reason. It causes the rocker shaft to be gripped so it doesn't tend to turn with the rockers and wear the pedestals.

They stop the shaft fretting in the posts - the shaft can't rotate as it is pinned in the read post.

Yes, fit them but to centre posts only.
