MG MGB Technical - uni-sync

Hi everyone,

I have a question in regards to the uni-sync tool for balancing carbs. This problem was also shown in John Twists youtube video but without an explanation when he is tuning the HIF SUs. When sticking the uni-sync to the carb and not getting a response from the meter he does something to the uni-sync so when he puts it back on the throat opening it registers a response. Now I have encountered this but do not see what there is to alter on the uni-sync. Am I missing the obvious ? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
James

There is an adjuster in the very center. You can screw it in or out to get it in range for the volumn of air being sucked in.
I have had mine since 1958 and it still works good.

He was simply adjusting the uni-sync so that the ball rides in the center of the measuring gauge. I think at the beginning, the ball was near the top of the scale. This is the equivalent of "zeroing" your meter when measuring resistance with an analog ohm meter.

Thank you. I will give it a try tonight.

When using a unisync with the ball about midrange how much bounce do you experience? Mine seem to move up and down a bit but my carbs are worn and need rebuilds.
Robert McCoy

My Uni-syn which was quite old and used when I got it has no bounce with the ball in any range. But my carbs are in good shape on my cars.
