MG MGB Technical - Warning on Inner A Arm Bushes
| Original bushes were rubber, which actually worked quite well as long as you had good rubber (the ones available in the last 10 years are inferior crap and come apart in a year or so) and you know to weight the suspension before tightening the nuts on the A arms. Better options are Metelastic (originally used in MGB V8). Beware - there seem to be a bad batch of these floating around with too small ID, although bearing the same part number. Check them on your pivots BEFORE installing them in your A arms. Other options - poly bushes - plastic, usually red, that does deform a little for some 'give' Not a bad choice but potentially a tad harsh on a street car. Delrin - hard non-deformable usually grey plastic - great for a race car, will wear on a street car and get sloppy as well as being guaranteed to be harsg riding and possibly noisy. I still like the V8 Metelastic bushes - tried to fit some new ones last week and found 50% were off spec, so short of taking a pivot assembly into the parts outlet (or dealing with repeated returns if dealing by mail), it is hard to be sure that what you buy will fit. Anyone else having this problem? |

| Bill- I find that the poly bushings from Superflex are the best choice. They do not produce them in molds (a sure sign of an El Cheapo bushing), instead they start life as a solid rod that is actually precision machined to size and shape on computerized machines. As a result, they will slip-fit into place. This is not often the case with molded bushings. Sometimes you have to pound them into place with a mallet, which will result in their bores being distorted or compressed, which in turn will cause them to squeak. Superflex bushings are self-lubricating once installed. They even include stainless steel sleeves so that rust cannot abrade them. |

| Hi Steve, I also use the superflex bushings. Very pleased with them. Where you got yours from? I bought them in the UK when I am there for business. will go back in 2008. Who needs some? |

| do those superflex bushings have the shoulder on them to aid locating the arms. I never liked the fact that the V8 bushings lacked a shoulder. Jeff |

| Not just availiable in the UK. Do a search on the net for Superflex. They are made in Australia. |

| Hi J. Delk, Yes, these bushungs have a shoulder to keep the bushings tight against the A-arms. |
