MG MGB Technical - Windsheild Center Rod Bolt size?

Any one know off hand what size the 2 bolts that hold the center rod to the top of the dash? Lentth and thread size
Thanks
MK Mike K

I'm about to take my one bolt out, to take it to the hardware store to try and match up for a 2nd bolt. I'll try to remember to write down what I buy.

Mike:
I used SS 1/4" x 1-1/4" Hex Head Bolt NFT.

HPP408 7/16" AF head and whatever UNC thread that usually gives. Originally chrome, with a point to help position the captive nut on insertion.

Length is actually too long to get in or out with the screen fully seated, you can't completely undo (or at least remove) them until the screen is partly raised, and they must be partially inserted before the screen is fully seated. However if you carefully shorten them from standard, keeping a point, it's possible to get them short enough to fit with the screen fully down (BT, DT). I actually went a bit too far with one, and the cage is quite a bit deeper than the nut allowing it to fall beyound where the bolt could pick it up, but I was able to reach under and lift the nut from below so the bolt picked it up.

Paul -
They are 1/4-28 UNF, otherwise as you say.
