MG MGF Technical - Access rear right body panel?

My neighbour decided to put her door into my rear right body panel. I have a small straight dent (2"-3"). Went to the bodyshop. They said it could be "rolled out" from the inside. The dent is located 10" direction 10´o clock from the right air intake. Can he, by removing the wheel arch liner acces this area? If not; they´ll have to repair it from the outside using other techniques.

Thanks in advance;
David.

I had similar problem.

Took off side air intake, took out the plastic bits and pieces going to the fan (RHD Car)and got my arm up to the ding from there.

Hope this helps. let us know how you get on..:-)
long arm needed

Thanks,

I am not going to do this myself. The woman will pay for a skileld craftsman to do it for me.

thanks,
David.

I got a LHD and the fans is at the located at the same side. I would have thought the fuel funnel/hose would be in the way?
David

You should be ok if you are trying to access to right side panel.
long arm needed

Two ways to access the void between the pressed outer skin and inner panel.

First as long arm says you can remove the air intake trim (2 screws) and the the plastic sleeve inside it (another 2-3 screws) and feel your way around inside. There is no problem with the fan- it is inside the engine bay not in the panel.

Second, if the dent is very high, there is a 3x1 inch access plug from inside the car under the carpet of the rear shelf where the hood folds - approx. where the wire for the hardtop comes out, on bothe sites.

David,

I had similar damage done to me Freelander.

I used a "Dents Plus" franchise guy who did an amazing job in a few minutes and only charged £50.

This assumes the paintwork in intact.

Thanks Spyros. I´ll have a look if the job can be done nicely from one of these locations.
So I supose access from behind the removed rear wheel arch liner is out of the question, as you need to get into the cavity in between outer and inner skin right?

Dents plus? 50£ I think the girl would be happy to hear this quote.

Thanks,
David.

David,

There is no rear arch liner that can be removed (unlike at the front where there is a plastic liner under the wings). There is only the resonator box on one site and a paper-like small cover for the alternator belt on the other but these are inside the engine bay. A mobile unit like Sam suggest above can do the job in a few minutes. Look in the archive for the names of other firms and the yelloe pages for afranchise in your area.

www.DentDevils.com removed 3 small dings from the read quarter on my F going in via the air intake + 1 from the front wing. Onsite 30 mins max. They are a franchise across the country.

Thanks Guys! So air intake and parcel shelf are the only options. I´ll let you know what how things turned out!
cheers,
DAvid.

I like the name "dent devils" *LOL* could be a nice nick name for a car. The bodacious duo : "scarlet and the dent devil"

Remembers me the good old days when "dukes of hazard" were on tv.

I found the dent to be easily accessible from the air vent. Will get a price quote asap.

thanks all,

David.
