If there are motion detectors mounted on the dash, it would appear that your car has an additional aftermarket alarm fitted - so unfortunately I can't help.

The standard alarm/immobiliser is a Lucas 5AS type, that is integrated into the standard wiring loom and is matched to the ECU. This system has a volumetric sensor mounted behind the rear 'T-bar' trim behind the seats, mounted in the centre line of the car. It is, therefore, out of sight.

Geoff,

Please turns your Caps Lock Off - it's more difficult to read than lower case letters. On Forums, all upper case is known as shouting :-)

Can anyone advice the two types of mhz the lucas fobs use for the MGF
I think the Lucas 3txb is 315mhz can any one confirm this and what is the other fobs running

are these orded by part numbers ie (lucas 3txb)

Are they a fixed code format or rolling code format.

Regards Geoff

Lucas remote fobs

Geoff,

From what I can remember, the cars that were exported to Japan were a different frequency from those in the UK, but I can't remember what they are. However, there is years of information in the archives. If you sign up as a member (it's free) you will get access and answers to this and some of the other questions that you have recently been asking :-)

Geoff,
Uk cars use 433 mhz, Aussie delivery cars use 315mhz.

Lucas models:
3txa original fob will work with mgf up to 1998.

3txb produced 1998 is a replacement for 3txa.

3txc used in rover freelander.

17tn is the best of all and is backward compatible with the others.

As Dieter said, if you join you will have access to a massive achive of MGF and all other mg's info.

Cheers
