MG MGF Technical - Alarm Troubles
Hi Guys Just found out that my alarm is not activating the volumetric sensor or the boot sensor, my car is a 97(r) VVC. Any ideas, before I take it into the garage?? |

Yep the boot wireing has broken and the system thinks the boot is open continiously- look in the wireing loom where it enters the boot (on the hinge) to see if it has worn thru. Other symptoms are that the car will no longer superlock. How do you know the boot sensor doesn't work? Will |

I think you can check it with the bootlight. remove a rearlight (complete block) If it's dark outside you should see the bootlight glow when the boot is closed. Then the superlock won't work. The Volumetric sensor works only when supperlocked and after 30 seconds. Good luck, Allard |

>The Volumetric sensor works only when supperlocked Nope, it works all the time. >and after 30 seconds. This may be true |

Volumetric sensor works when car is locked with the remote blipper, normal lock or superlock. If you lock the car with the key the volumetric sensor does not work. |

Thanks Guys Ive been away for a few days and havent been online, will check the wiring loom. I think the boot sensor is not working as ive opened the boot when the car is superlocked and the alarm hasnt gone off will investigate more this evening Thanks again |

<<I think the boot sensor is not working as ive opened the boot when the car is superlocked and the alarm hasnt gone off>> The alarm shouldn't go off when you open the boot with the key. The key disables the alarm even if it is superlocked or not. Superlocking just disconnects the internal door handles. Bruce |
