MG MGF Technical - ALLOYS - Please Help!

Hi People,

Really need some help here. Yesterday evening I unfortunately managed to have a slight crash in my MGF 1.8i very near the Half Way House (just coming off the A127 near Brentwood - A128 Junction) The resulting damage is I've managed to, (among other things) completely break 2 alloys which I need to replace. (I slammed into the kerb sideways with the drivers wheel taking the main force of impact - luckily it didn't touch the body work, although my front indicators popped out! Slightly banged the rear drivers wheel, but don't think I've down any internal damage - I managed to drive the car back home)

My first port of call was the MGF centre today, but I was told that because my car was too old (1999!) they didn't stock the alloys I needed.

So I was wondering if you good people knew of anyone/anyplace who have some for sale. The wheel in question is the standard 1.8i MGF wheel (6 spoke) before MGR slightly face lifted the MG range (I've got the MK 1 interior) I'm sure you all know what I mean.

If you have any for sale or know of, please can you email me the details.

Thanks in advance in my hour(s) of need! :-)

Ouch! Sorry to hear the bad news :o(

Get the suspension looked at - the car may be harbouring some nasties in terms of bent suspension links etc. :o(

Have you tried Midland MGF yet? http://www.midlandMGF.co.uk/

Have a SET of standard 15" six spoke with good tyres, but will only sell as the set, e-mail if interested!

I would echo what Rob said about the suspension - it needs to be checked. I would use Elite Tyres on the A13 at Rainham who will give you a print out of what is out of alignment - at £29.95 they will be much cheaper than the main dealer and have an excellent reputation and can fix the suspension too.

I do not live far from that junction if you need to borrow some wheels (steel spares) if that will assist in any way.

However, you said that you completely broke two wheels but then added that the rear offside was only slightly banged. If per chance you have only badly scuffed the rear wheel, I had mine reburbished by a local company called 'bright wheels' who did an excellent job.

If you need to contact me e-mail me on david_dotstonehouse@havering_dot.gov_dotuk - just delete the underscores and change the dots.

Hi Paul

Sorry to hear about the accident. Give E-bay a try. (www.ebay.co.uk). Search for "mgf"

I've seen a set of four 15" wheels with good tyres go for as little as £70-00 on Ebay!

Good luck!

Hi Paul
Please accept my apologies, but on seeing this thread I had to add my two penneth. I don't like that junction either Paul! Nothing to do with my MGF and this isn't helping you, but on 8th September, I wrote off my company car going west in the outside lane of the A127 just after the slip road for the A128. Look for the straight black skid marks in the outside lane, they are still there. That's where I was stuffed up the back and became the ham in a van sandwich. Air bags do work.
Carry on wheeling & dealing chaps!

I have a set of VVC wheels available that belong to a customer who has just fitted some 17". I will give you his phone number if you want them, you pay him and we can post them to you. HTH.
