MG MGF Technical - Anti freeze in me hair

Well i finally done that water temp sensor/sender, what a job!!!
The bleeding thing was coroded so when i got the electric conector off the whole thing disintigrated in my hands leaving most of the thread of the sender left in the block grrrrrrrr.
After about 3 hrs frantic work on my back under the F i finally got a result with the help of a long srewdriver and lots of anti freeze down me neck and everywhere else.
Had to take off most of the water pipes just to get at the dam thing.
Well its all back together now and working perfect with the peace of mind that i saved a fortune in labour charge's down me local garage.
RESULT!!!

Nice one Tony, I'm due to do the same next week, now hoping it's not disintegrated to the same degree...
Mike Hankin

I found that you just HAD to dismantle a few of the water hose's and drain the water off to get at the sender in question Mike.
It would also be best if you had the use of a ramp as its a bitch to get at!
Best of luck.

What a nightmare Tony! Glad you got everything back together though :o)

Yep, I see what you mean Tony - finding a path past all those hoses has defeated my toolkit & ingenuity. No mention of a special tool in the manual, I suspect 3+ extension bars of varying lengths and a liberal supply of UJs is what it needs. Hopefully by keeping the hoses intact the anticipated faceful of coolant won't be of quite the same volume...

Having said that, this is where you had the corroded/leaking hose union isn't it Rob?
Mike Hankin

Yes, it is that alloy engine coolant outlet stub pipe Mike... Now have that nice new one that came with the TF135 head - which was lucky!
