MG MGF Technical - Anyone remember this crazy event?

http://www.mgcars.org.uk/midgetspriteclub/surrey/brooklands/mgfday98.html

It was freezing, but it was brilliant!
the original gathering of the original MGF nutters.

Neil

I remember it well, my B was the one that briefly joined the Fs on the banking for the photoshoot.
The Wiz

Yup - I guess in retrospect we could call that MGF3! :o)

Neil, I wonder where Spence ended up? :o)
Rob Bell

Yep I remmeber it well - the photo of Andy under SF reminds me that I have a video of him doing that?
Ted Newman

Spence?

he was wired from coming out of a London club that previous night having had NO SLEEP!

he bought an Elise and disappeared off the face of the planet.

Unlike that bloke who had fitted Tiger skin seats and bits of wood he had "got from a skip". he's been recalled by the mother ship to return to his home planet!!!

Sorry about the quality, I do have better ones somewhere.
The Wiz

I'm pretty sure that's Rob Bell's BRG F next to your B and my Flame Red F next to his. It was my first MGF Register event and thanks to SF I learnt how to remove the front bumper to fit bright grilles!

Somewhere on the web there were some more pics including one of a group of us, with the 3rd birthday cake, in front of the cars lined up on the banking. I had some printouts which were on display at MGF10 and now reside in the F Register archive. I can't remember which website they were on.
Dave Livingstone

They were my pictures, I just dug out the old web page and dropped it onto my server.

You can see the images but none of the other links will work.
The Wiz

Brilliant - yes, those are the ones :-) Any chance you can email me two of them? The cake group and another one with me, my youngest daughter and Rob stood inbetween my red F and Rob's BRG F on the front row of the banking (last one on the right of the top row)? It'd be great of you could.
Dave Livingstone

Grab them off the page Dave, it may take me a while to dig out the originals and rescan them but I will start hunting for them.

I'm not the only person with some of those photos, if I remember correctly Andy Dudley had similar and Caroline who married another eFfer? Unfotunately I can't remember her surname although I did visit the marital house in 1998.

Mike

The Wiz

And what are you doing up at this time of the morninbg? :-)
The Wiz

OK - thanks :-)

Like you I'm in the US, but just visiting a sunny and warm Atlanta!
Dave Livingstone

Sorry Dave, those are the best I have, I lost the originals in the move to the US, I just went through all my old computer files and those were the best scans I have got.

Back in 1998 when I scanned those pics on my 600dpi Mustek and viewed them at 800x600 on my 14 inch monitor they looked pretty damn good.

Unfortunately, viewing them today on a slightly larger LCD monitor REALLY shows how crappy they were!

Maybe someone else can contact Andy or Caroline and find better copies?
The Wiz

How long are you in Atlanta for?
The Wiz

Oh - and where would I find the F register Archive?

No - I don't care that my photos may be on there, I'm just glad that someone liked them enough to save them! :-)
The Wiz

Mike, wow, those pictures bring back some memories! You've got the gang from Essex Roadsters around the cake :o)

I seem to recall, on an earlier Brooklands day, trying to persuade you to take your MGB around to the autoglym stall and set the sales guy a challenge of getting a good shine on your MG's paintwork! ROFL

Dave, I'm not sure but I might have some of these images somewhere? If not, then Martin Woods may well have some pictures stored away on his hard drive or floppy...
Rob Bell

We all looked so young there...!
Paul Nothard

>>How long are you in Atlanta for?

Just until Sunday. Had some work out here Tuesday and Wednesday and am just staying over the Sat night for the cheaper flight back!

>>Oh - and where would I find the F register Archive?

LOL - currently in a box at SF's house I suspect. I just had a couple of poor quality print outs from my inkjet printer stashed away in a file and dug them out for MGF10.

Things have moved on a bit since then haven't they? - no problem - it's good to see them online again. I'll download them off the page to my hard drive. Thanks.
