MG MGF Technical - Are MGF & Maestro Calipers the same?

Hello Everyone!

I am looking for a front brake upgrade from 240mm rotors to 280mm and have spoken to Terry at JRT Automotive.

I want to try and use the existing MGF caliper with the bigger rotors so need a new mounting bracket and JRT only do one for the Maestro calipers.

Does anyone know if these are the same or have the same mounts?

Thanks in advance,

Nick

Not sure but have a look here - http://www.mgf.ultimatemg.com/ - top right dropdown has a section on brake upgrades

Hi Tony,

I have already read Rob's info but although he says the discs are the same as the MG Maestro he doesn't mention the calipers.

I have tried to get a big brake kit from Mike Satur but they are gonna be 4 wks and HiSpec haven't replied to my email.

I need to know if the mounts are the same so I can use the bracket JRT supply for the Maestro calipers.

I have found pictures of the calipers on the internet and they aren't the same. However, the caliper mounts look like they have the right size holes in about the right place...

All I need is someone who knows the Maestro as intimately as they know the MGF! :)

Nick, you could try contacting Martin Woods on the following link via e mail, he has lots of experience of both models.

Look up the archives of this BBS
*Maestro/Montego* and *Caliper* brings some interesting results.
280mm brake kit

Slight different calipers from what I read.

The calipers actually look identical to me - having helped a fellow speed championship competitor with a pad change on his Maestro... :o)
