MG MGF Technical - Armature

This may be a stupid question but should the front Armature (the bit behind the bumper) be straight vertical and flat?

cos I've bent mine :-(

Where is a good sources and how much am I looking at paying?

Miffed of Hampton!
Steve Ratledge

Looking at Dieters on-line EPC the armature assembly should be flat, vertial and straight. Bu@@er.
Steve Ratledge

Steve, try the usual suspects. Don't reckon on getting one second hand (although you may get lucky) because, obviously, most 'incidents' involve the front end!
Rob Bell

Steve, I was charged £60 including shipping by a Rover breakers in Norfolk, I believe it would have been about the same from MGF Centre etc.

Be thankful you have easy access to the bolts, my removal of a particularly mangled one required an angle grinder and understanding neighbours...
Mike Hankin

Hmm as I have cracked my front bumper and need a new armature assembly I wonder if it worth thinking about a TF nose job?

Are the lights on the TF any better than those on the F?
Steve Ratledge

Apparently, yes Steve. It's a reasonably straightforward job to undertake too: http://www.mgcars.org.uk/carclub/mgfregister/archives/articles/F2TF/

Personally, I think that you ought to replace the rear bumper as well to balance the look - but as ever, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Rob Bell

Not convinced about doing it yet - just working out my options!
