MG MGF Technical - Bear with me on this one....

This maybe (by far) the most bizarre thread any MG enthusiast has ever initiated (or not). The story is long-winded so i'll try my best to keep it short. Being an MGF owner living in Cyprus means several things, such as non-existant service (authorised dealer is as i have stated in previous threads "a waste of space"); no parts; not too many other F'ers on the road; and a general sentiment that being an MG owner spells DOOM! Gloomy as the sentiment is, i am a proud MGF'er and all the adversity of owning one has little effect on me (did i mention i paid nearly 3000 squid in less than 3 months due to lack of maintenance from the previous owner and a lack of technical knowledge from all 6 car mechanics i took my Jade to!!!)

Now that the introductions are out of the way, on to the point of this thread. My interior is crying for attention. I plan to purchase the mk II dash conversion plus some other accessories from MSatur to get it started, and found a local (non-rip-off) shop to help handle the leathering of the chairs. However, the dash is in a sorry state (no thanks to the abundance of the 50oC sun rays here) and the instrument cowl has a slight crack in it. My choices are limited as leathering these in Cyprus is totally out of the question (to quote one guy i asked: "have you lost your mind!!!! that can't be done!), plus the torturous sun rays will have a feast!

So... that leaves me with 2 options. Im keen on the Alcantara range as it's non-leather, and the drastic choice of dismantling the entire dash, popping the parts on a plane, take em with me to the UK, get them sorted and bring them back (sheesh!) Alternatively, i was wondering if i can purchase the alcantare replacement dash and cowl without the "exchange" factor being involved...

Any ideas??? (or have i scared everyone off)????

How hard is it to dismantle the dash of an MGF by the way? I know it's not easy (as nothing ever is on these cars) but an approximate value will do just fine...!

Ta for your time!

http://www.mgfcentre.com do dashboards, they say on an exchange basis but I think they would probably sell you one outright for a price, best to give them a call, ask for Victoria
Phil Brindley

do a search for "scarlet fever MGF" for how to strip, well, pretty much everything!

Yes, the MGF Centre had a Alcantara look-alike (or was it real) dashboard on displey during Silverstone 2004.
I would like to advise you to ask the one who is doing the seats if he is sure he is using leather suitable for cars.

I could recommend ICT NV. here in Belgium.

Many thanks to all who replied. Turns out i had a resource right under my nose. Found a chap who has many links with the UK and has a fortune's worth of MGF parts and accessories! Had to travel a while to find him, but all worth it (the guy even had AP Calipers in his stock - im not even sure that he knew what they were for?!). This guy is willing to help me out with the interior and sort out shipping and all that it entails... in short... im a happy chappy!!! : )
