MG MGF Technical - black 'crust' in cooler water bottle

I just looked att a 2002 MGF Trofy. The car looked all right but when I opened to look on the cooling wather I found that the "bottle" was less than halffull and had a black crust on the inside of the bottle about 2 cm over the watherlevel.Has the car got too warm or is it something wrong ???

A black crust sounds odd Nils - could it have been dried out coolant deposits? (I'm assuming that the coolant was an orange colour?)

Other thought was oil - but usually that appears as a milky/coffee coloured emulsion, not a black crust.

I wonder what the others here will think of this description?

Yes the coolant was orange . I donīt know if crust is the right word but it was black sort deposits about 1mm in diameter sitting together inside the coolant bottle. Overheating ?

I doubt over heating... but not sure what the explanation is.

If there is any doubt, then it is probably best to leave this particular car alone.

I just found out that if you use barleak a chemical fluid to save you from a new overheating and put it in the bottle you got this form of deposits., so I wait for a better car

A wise decision I think. Good luck with the search!
