MG MGF Technical - Blaupunkt Disc Radio

I have recently purchased a NOS Blaupunkt radio/CD player, Model # XQE 100370..I believe that they were standard issue in the TF at some stage. I have looked high & low for some wiring and operating instructions for this model, but no-one has come forward. What I want to know is the wiring coding...it has 5 wires, entering a plug..colours are yellow, orange, blue, green and red.,,can anyone explain the colour coding.

Just to explain, this radio is going into my MGA, which is being powered by a Honda S2000 engine. I wanted to insert an MGF engine, but these are just not available in Australia in spare quantities.

Help on the wiring please.

Hi Gary,

You can get manual for it from here for $10;

http://www.manualzone.com/ReWrite-SPFM-.Dyn.M22366652KYWRDS_Blaupunkt_CD43%20MG%20U%20XQE100370_CD43MGUXQE100370_service_manual_repair_manual_schematic_diagram_owners_manual_users_manual_parts_list.html#1

for what it's worth, standard colour coding is as follows;

Blue = Power Antenna
Red = Power wire
Yellow/Red = Battery/Memory = Constant Voltage (12V)
Brown = Ground
Orange = Illumination

Thanks Sam. The manualzone site only provides a parts list for this model.
The colours you quote are definitely different from mine,which are as listed in the first thread.
Anyone else help?
Thanks
Gary

Gary,
I just replace my Blaupunkt (Miami Beach CD52) with a new unit.
I know its not your model, but I suspect that the wiring will be same or similar.
There are 3 connectors on the back. One is for the preamp, power and speakers.

Block I
Preamp Connections
Will supply only if asked. (Theres a lot of stuff to type out)

Block II (Speakers)
1 Right Rear + : Violet
2 Right Rear - : Violet/Black
3 Right Front + : Gray
4 Right Front - : Gray/Black
5 Left Front + : White
6 Left Front - : White/Black
7 Left Rear + : Green
8 Left Rear - : Green/Black

Block III Power/Etc
1 No Connection
2 Telephone Mute: Dark Green
3 No Connection
4 Constant Power +12V: Yellow
5 Antenna Motor On/Off Switch: Blue
6 Illumination: Orange
7 Ignition Switch (accessories): Red
8 Power Ground -: Black

Hope that Helps.
Cheers,

Gary,

Just adding that your Unit is a CD43 model.

Not sure if yours is a "LAGUNA" Model but here is the owners manual if it is.

Thanks Branco for your help. My unit is not a Laguna, but the European version, which has a different face. The wiring sounds very similar though, and I should be able to sort something out. My unit was a NOS item from the ex MG Rover dealer on the Gold Coast, who is clearing out his stock to make room for Renault items.

I've asked Bosch/Blaupunkt in the UK for assistance, but not much help yet.

Gary,

Just a thought....

Why not try a specialist car audio shop?

Stupid question - are you sure there's not an ISO connector on the end? If so, ignore the colours as they aren't standard and just look at the pinouts (top diagram in the link below). I believe all TFs had ISO harnesses so unless your head unit had something different and needed an adapter loom which is missing this should sort you out.

Gary,
take a digi pic of the back and post it here.
That way we may have a better chance to sort this out.
Branko

Tim, the pinouts relate exactly to those shown in the link to the Davidson Electronics site, and that should solve the problem
Green..earth
Orange..illumination
Red..battery
Yellow...Ignition
Blue..Auto aerial.

Thanks guys
