MG MGF Technical - Bloomin bouncing wipers...

Stuck with a persistant problem with wipers. Noisy on the screen and also juddering on the upward sweep - you can see it on the glass. Arms have not been damaged and blades replaced with OE ones from dealer. Have tried cleaning glass with Autoglym glass cleaner as well as wiping some resin polish on blades as advised from the archives but to no avail. If anyone has any advice I'd be most grateful as it is really really annoying!!!!!!

Had exactly the same problem which I cured by removing the wing from the drivers wiper arm. It took some force to remove it but now no judder, although at speeds above 70 the wiper does lift slightly not giving a perfect clean sweep. Lesser of 2 evils though.

Robert,

I had this problem when I fitted wiper blades from Halfords. Changed them back to MG ones and never had a problem since. I put it down to a slightly different angle on the driver's blade wing which created more/less downforce at speed.

check the blade is exactly at right angles to the screen surface. I have found that even a slight tilt can cause the blade to judder if it has to push against the angle rather that wipe across the surface(try the side of your hand across the desk at different angles if no one in the office is watching!)

Hi All,
There are now some teflon aftermarket wiper blades on the market which cures judder, had this problem on my F , Transit van and my wifes Fiat Punto, fitted these teflon jobs and no more wiper judder , also better screen clearing and not so much smeering.

Robert,

Reckon I'll try the teflon blades - Halfords or somewhere I guess?
