MG MGF Technical - Boot lid
Put the tonneau cover on at the weekend....mustn't have had it properly in the rain channel at the back of the boot lid and the boot lid has 'lifted' on one side!!!! I have been able to 'press' it back slightly, but it is still not 'flush'....is it easy to adjust the boot alignment??? I checked carefully, the lid does not seem damaged! Anybody else seen this, noticed a new TF at the dealers with exactly the same problem!!! Cheers!!!

O.K. the bolts I said to tighten, if you losten them then push back into shape and tighten you should be fine (not lardy enough to just push down on the lind then ;-). Someone will be along soon with the correct Nm figures for tightening. Will

Cheers Will....I have tried to push back into place, but don't want to push too hard!!!! What bolts do you mean?? There are a couple where the lid is attached to the mechanism, do you mean them? They look like they would only adjust front/back movement, not up/down!!

| From memory there are three bolts where the bootlid meets the arm which in turn dissapears into the engine compartment. AFAIK these are the only adjustment points for the hinge side of the lid. The rubber plugs screw in and out for setting the bounce stop points for the lid- you may wish to screw these in compleatly before leaning on the lid as it will give you an easier job (but simmerly make it easier to overshoot). | This problem seems to happen quite a lot - when I fit my Tonneau cover in future I will put it in the boot first - is this sensible / the proper way to do it? Steve |

Steve...I had the same thought...that's not how the manual suggests......the cover rides up tho' the way the manual advises, hence the extra strain on the boot!!! How common is this problem??
Loz
I have heard of it probably 3 times on this and another board I sometimes visit since the warm weather. It is difficult to get the boot lined up again - as you have probably found out. However I do it in future, I will be very careful - and no doubt so will you!!

I had this problem with my F, just took it to the dealer and told them to sort it out. Much easier. Chris.

So Chris...did the dealer sort the problem for good! or is this a design fault!
Loz
Well I've had no problems since, so I guess the nuts don't get tightend enough in production. Chris.
