MG MGF Technical - BROKEN CAM BELT

WHATS THE WORST I CAN EXPECT WITH A BROKEN CAM BELT, I KNOW ITS GOING TO BE EXPENSIVE BUT DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA HOW MUCH
A SHAVE

Worst case scenario is new/2nd hand engine. This because pistons may have broken by valves being down (open) at the wrong time.

Let's hope you're lucky,

Your cheapest option is to buy a complete second hand engine from a Rover autobreaker. The MGF Centre and Midlands MGF maybe able to help, but any Rover specialist will be able to help.

As Johan says, the worst case scenario is very expensive. Best case is a replacement head and valve train.

There's one on ebay :-

There'll be many takers for this.

as an alternative call Vicky at the MGF centre. Great service

For my previous car... Rover Coupe, K-series 1.6 engine... the cost was a nice £1400... :-(

That was to fix the existing engine... not get a replacement one..

I was lucky, when my belt broke all 16 valves were bent but the piston crowns were ok
