MG MGF Technical - central locking on drivers side
Drivers side central locking is not working. I have tried the leads to the door solinoid to see if they were loose. I sprayed the unit with WD40 but it still does not work. Any ideas what it could be.

Steve, If passenger's side is working correctly then it may be a faulty door lock motor or an open circuit connection within the unit or the wiring to the motors. Wire colours are Pink, Orange and Brown/Pink. Both locking motors ie left and right hand side, are wired in parallel so both receive the same supply at the same moment. Super lock motors are also the same. Does the super lock work? Bruce

Standard fault on 2001 MGF's I had mine done under warranty, as have quite a few others. Don't know what failed though. Be worth calling a dealer at least. There's a bit in the 2002 archives about it IIRC.

Bruce The super locking does not work on drivers side. I have to use the key to open and close.
Steve
Steve, If you lock the door with the key can you then superlock it with the double blip? If not then suspect the pink wire which is common to both motors. Can only suggest a trip to a dealer for connection to a Test Book. Bruce

T4 will not diagnose CDL faults on the F or TF :-( It is more than likely to be a motor fault itself - not unheard of!
Dr Dave
I will try the motor from the passenger side, if works then get a new motor. Thanks everyone

Thank you Doctor!

I have been waiting for 6 weeks on parts from MG Rover to fix my central locking. I am getting the run around from the customer service help line on 01214823344. Does anyone know a name at either MG or Caterpillar Logistics who will be able to assist. I am just wanting to know where the part are and when they will be delivered.
