hi driving home last got home noticed that the rear hi level light had stopped working . twiddled at the boot and the light had come back on. did notice a bulb was out also can the bulbs be replaced if so what ones do i need to get looks like a wire has broken in the harnese in the boot you move the boot up and down it comes on and off also can one bulb being out makes the others come on and off i tapped the hi level light it came back
Darren Jeffery

Darren,

Could be a break in loom where it follows the boot hinge. This is a comon problem.

thats the one is it easy to fix what did you do to do it darren
Darren Jeffery

Sounds like the boot loom as Sam says, common problem and can cause flat battery (boot light not switching off) and triggering the alarm when opening/closing boot with the alarm armed.

If it is that Darren, after you repair the broken wires I suggest you leave the lower part of the loom with a little slack (around the hinge) to try and prevent it happening again due to straining said wires thats caused by opening and closing the boot lid.

Hi Darren,

Pretty much the only option is to strip back the binding tape either side, separate out the broken ends and splice in a short length of wire. Best to solder it in, using bullet connectors could put more pressure on the remaining wires and cause them to fail too.
Mike Hankin

When I had this problem over 2 years ago I did mine as Mike has explained, its been fine ever since. I soldered in short lengths of wire rather than using connectors and then used insulating tape to protect each indivdual joint and to bundle the wires back together.

thanks steve its so annoying it right on the t part off the loom. at the bottom had a look at lunch with a freind then the heavens opened. so we stopped there is not much wire to play with darren
Darren Jeffery

Yep I know there isn't much wire to play with - so be very careful when you come to strip the insulation back off the wires prior to soldering or you will end up with even less ;)
Steve P

thanks to steve p and mike hankin for your guidance
