MG MGF Technical - Clear Indicators

I want to replace the front and side indicators, with clear ones. I have found a part no. VUB105950. It is supposed to include the front and side indicators plus bulbs etc. I have been quoted £30.25 by my local dealer. He thinks the lights maybe smoked and does not know if it includes everything I am looking for. Does anybody know if this is the correct kit that I am looking for?

Yes the indicators are 'smoked' rather than clear.

The kit is referred to as smoked rather than clear and the last time i bought them the front ones alone were a similar price to the £30.25 you mention (it was a while ago now though).

I suspect that the side repeaters will be additional. It is worth shopping around for these though as they are standard (original) Mini parts and can be had more cheaply from specialists (i paid £8.00 for mine back in 1998).

The TF rear light clusters are a better match for the smoked insidactors and side repeaters IMO, but as they are a complete unit, unless you have damaged one of the originals then there is little point in replacing them.

When I bought the kit from MG Rover, the side repeaters and bulbs were included.

You could try Midland MGF, or MGF Centre for a secondhand set at much cheapness.

I suspect Victoria at the MGF Centre might be able to help...

I have a set of clear front indicator unit setting in my garage collecting dust.
One has a broken clip but could be fixed with a spot of superglue.
Any offers?

Just looked at the part no on the smoked indicators I got (i.e. the clear ones), and the part no you have is correct. I got 2x front clear indicators with orange bulbs, 2x side repeaters, 2x orange bulbs for the side and an additional set of orange (spare) bulbs for the front, though this may have been a mistake.

Why ??
The F has smoked rear indicators, while the TF has white indicators at the rear.

The smoked kit from the dealer does allow you to change all the front and side repeater lights. It is amazing the price considering if you have one side repeater or front light can add up to alot more money.

Beware though, dealer may try to sell you separate items if you don't quote correct order no. They don't seem to know of parts kit - other than when you mention it to them - or my dealer spares area did not.

...yet the Rover kit VUB105950 is complete (front and repeaters), does include spare bubs, and is around £32, so remains a bargain. Especially as you do not pay Rover any mail order charges to CI....

A tip for those fitting new indicators in the bumper. Reinforce the spring clip at the bend with a blob of araldite before fitting this helps prevent the clip breaking, as in Steves case, when the item is removed in the future.
Chris

Rover dealers have problems finding the part no as it's not a 'spare' as such, it's an accessory. IIRC, they will find the smoked indicator set in the same book as things like the after-market hard-top, boot rack etc.
