MG MGF Technical - clock

the clock on my 2003 ft stopped last night at 10.35 the fuse is ok have you any ideas what it could be ?
W.J. REID

My clock has also stoped on my R Reg MGF, the radio has also stoppe, the interior mirror lights and the cigerette lighter, unable to find any blown fuses, does any one have any ideas.
A Webber

It should be a fuse, maybe replace them all and see what happens.
Andrew Regens

They all do that sir: TF clocks are prone to doing this and need a “reboot”, either pull the fuse or remove the top vent and pull the plug out of the clock and have cup of coffee then replace the fuse or the plug and the clock should restart.
C Tideswell

thanks boys i will try over the weekend and let you know how i get on
W.J. REID

While you have got the plug out check the clock is getting power.
Mr Webber your problem sounds like chaffed wires on the loom. Take your centre console out and have a good look.
Jon Baker

A Webber-one fuse on it's own controls all those that have stopped working on your car. I'd be surprised if it was anything else.

Took the fuse out left it overnight. it is now working ok. thank you
W.J. REID

They also pack up. You might find that it keeps stopping. Mine would work whicst you were driving but stop overnight. I put it down to being jiggled, keeping it working. I took it apart and wired it up on a power supply and it worked for a week then stopped. Replaced it (with one out of an old Volvo, Same clock but black and says VOLVO) and it worked perfectly for 6 months (until the car was written off).
Keith

A. Webber - I agree with Ninja, all on the same fuse. On mine (99 F) the under bonnet light had fallen out and was shorting against the bonnet. Fuse is in drivers footwell, your handbook tells you which one it is.
