MG MGF Technical - Clock this!!!

Woke up this morning after enjoying an extra hour's
sleep. Got up, made sure all the house clocks were
now showing the correct time. Went out to my beloved
MGf, pressed in the button on the clock - the minute
hand went round, but the hour hand refused to move and
many hours later, still not moving. Any ideas, apart
from getting a replacement dashboard clock!

Errr.... Yeh!!.. get a replacement dashboard clock!!.. :o(

Common fault!, IIRC someone tried to strip and repair one, but gave up!.

They do crop up on flea-bay, around £20!..

I bought a new F clock from MGFC but then changed the car to a TF before I got around to fitting it. Still in box with MGFC invoice for £30 + VAT.

Are all clocks in Fs the same??

Up to MY2000 (Mk 2F), Yes!!.

Could turn a profit on that JP!!....... its this time of year Fers find out their hour hand wont move!!...

I found out mine didn't work just after I bought it.
Was planning on disconnecting the power lead for an hour to sort it.
When they go forward it could be a bit trickier though.

Could try cutting the power for 23 hours, that would do it. Mins you that is a long time not to be driving the best driving car on the road.

Hi! to everyone. Thanks for your comments. After
much pressing in of the knurled knob, managed to
get the hour hand to move back, so my MGf is now
reading the correct time. Trouble is, I have got to
go through this pallaver again in about 6 months time!
One wonders if the effort to take off the facia panel
and install some sort of reliable clock is going to
be worth it or do I just give up and be grateful, even
if it stopped, that it would be right at least twice a
day!

You pull the fuse for 11 Hours, the clock does not know if it is night or day.

Could you not use one of your "Hostess Trolly"?... or perhaps does your "Soda Stream" in the kitchen have one??....... not sure about the "Breville Toaster" though!!

Sat and read these posts on Sunday with a smile and thought " I'll not have a problem with mine as it's been fine over the last few years" Got the car out of the garage this morning and tried to change the time. Guess what......The small hand won't move!!! I think I'll stick with having the time an hour fast. Might get to work on time now.
