MG MGF Technical - Clunk on reverse breaking

Hi Guys,
I have recently noticed that when I apply my breaks while reversing a get a clunk from the front wheels. I haven’t noticed a similar noise when I apply the breaks going forward. I have standard breaks and wheels fitted; also sometimes the breaks seem stuck on after a night at the curb side. Any suggestions?

Try wriggling the 'cradle' for the spare wheel (grip the top of the spare tyre and push it back and forth). I discovered that this was creating an annoying clunking noise in my 'F when going over bumps, seemingly due to flexing at the top of the 'cradle' near to the panel that runs across the top of the radiator.

In the past, tightening up the large plastic nut that holds in the spare wheel has worked, as it alters the tension on the panel on which the spare wheel lies.

If it is damp or actually wet the discs/pads slightly rust together and stick - "they all do that sir"

Re clunks, it may be bushes starting to wear - how old/miles is the car?
Tony

or it could just be the pads moving in the calipers,

as for sticking yes they all do that even when parked overnight in the garage.
