MG MGF Technical - Clutch Slave

Is it possible to change the clutch slave cylinder through the boot area? I assume you would remove the grill above the engine if possible?
Robert (Bob) Midget Turbo

The slave is nearer the front of the engine bay, infinitely easier to get to from the engine access panel - going through the grille aperture would require very long & many-jointed arms. And well worth checking the action of the clutch release arm before fitting a new slave unit, as that's often the cause of a failure and if not addressed the new unit won't last long.

Thank you

Had a look when I got home tonight before it rained :( I think the cylinder is hiding behind the air filter. How dificult is it to remove the air filter housing?
Robert (Bob) Midget Turbo

If it's a Mk 1 like mine it's easy enough. Why not do a cool air intake mod whilst you're there? That's pretty easy, too - see http://www.lejambonfute.f2s.com/page46.html

Thanks everyone

My clutch slave repair kit came today greeting me when I got home from work

It was a glorius evening so I took the bull by the horns released the rear of the hood and accessed the engine bay via the engine panel.

The clutch slave was then looking straight at me and it was a simple job to remove it and reseal it. Bleeding it was a small pain but soon everything was working and put back together.

Job done :) Thanks
