MG MGF Technical - Coolant still dropping

I still seem to be loosing coolant :o( Not quickly (about a pint in the last fortnight), but still a cause for concern.

A couple of weeks ago, I had my radiator re-cored, new underbody coolant pipes, and head gasket replacement courtesy of Tech-Speed, but the coolant level still seems to be dropping.

Guess this is likely to be the hose connectors now that I've had the other work done, but was wondering if there could be any other causes?

Got to go back to Tech-Speed soon to get them to change my oil after the head gasket replacement (been running cheap oil through the system to flush it out). So I'll get them to pressure test it then, just curious in the meantime.

Thanks in advance,
Jim

Jim,

My advice, speak to Techspeed ASAP, they are familiar with the work done and as such will have much more of an idea of what the cause could be than anyone here.

Jim,

Co-incidentally, I too had a further coolant leak shortly after my HGF. In my case it was a split engine outlet hose. Then soon after that a leak around the radiator bleed screw appeared. Could there be a slight pressure increase after the head gasket fix that helps to find any other weak spots? Anyway, as Andy says I wouldn't wait - give Tech-speed a call straight away. They'll be keen to track it down and you don't have far to travel for them to check it out.

Water pump leaking?? But should show signs of coolant somewhere. Andy's advice is cool.

Jim ....I had loss of coolent once and traced it back to a hairline crack on the seam of the white expansion tank. Its worth just running your finger round that seam to see if it is leaking there.

Thanks for the advice guys - I'll speak to Roy at TS and let you know the outcome.
