MG MGF Technical - coolig system operation

After the engine has warmed up(non vvc)there is a constant flow of coolant into the expansion tank from the small bore rubber pipe at the top of the tank, this is coming from the long pipe from the left hand jiggle valve, not the bleed connected to the inlet manifold.
The quantity is clearly more than that due to fluid expansion, and it means that the expansion tank is part of the flow system and consequently gets hot!!,which does not seem to be normal, though I am not sure what harm it does.
Has anybody else observed this, and should I be concerned?.
Eric Banton

Normal
Will Munns

depends on the model.
on some models there is a jiggle valve in the bypass circuit preventing the coolant to flow inside the tank. some other don't have this valve: it looks like yours is one of them.

?? I thought all have ??
Which model do you reffer to ?

Anyway, my vote is for normal.

Thanks for the advice,its a 1998 1.8i.

Check the jiggle valve on the bypass circuit.
It looks like it is stuck open.
