Today when driving home from work a noticed creaking from the front of the car,(felt through the clutch pedal). On inspection at home and bouncing the front of the car the suspension the creak was really noticable.
Anybody got any suggestions as i'm off to Europe in it next week and worried about probs abroard.
Any advice would be greatfully recieved.

That sounds (and feels) very similar to the problems I've experienced for the last 6 months. Today I had the steering rack replaced and the noise and knocking felt through the pedals has all gone. The car also feels more stable on uneven country roads at high speed.

Neil,

I've just started to notice a vibration through the pedels. I'm curious to know how changing the steering rack can cure the pedel vibration.....? And out of interest how much was the steering rack to replace....

I have to say that the steering rack was not my first thought. The vibrations in the pedals, which were initially intermittent, were noticeable well before the creaking noise began. The car went into the dealership approximately five times with this problem but they were unable to 'feel' the problem. I considered it may have been bearings, shocks or bushes so carried out various investigations by checking the bearings and removing the shocks and checking the bushes but everything appeared fine. It was only when the noise developed that I was able to hold onto various components under the car as the car was bounced up and down that I could actually feel the vibration in the steering rack. Predictably it took a further two visits for the dealer to announce they had identified the problem and it was the rack, surprise surprise.

Fortunately I have no idea how much it cost to change as it was covered under the warranty although I can say it was probably costly as the warranty company insisted that an MGR Engineer inspected the car to confirm the problem. I presume the vibrations are simply a result of the close proximity of the rack the pedal box but this instance the car feels better than when I bought it.

Hope this helps
