MG MGF Technical - DOOR HANDLE NUT

Hi Folks!

One of the plastic securing nuts in the passanger door handle assembly of my 2002 MGF has broken.

Any ideas if this part can be obtained separately?

Cheers!
Sam Murray

As you were peeps.

I can see from the illustrations I've found that the thread is part of the plastic moulding on the handle.

Just have to get a replacement on ebay.

Only £20, so won't break the bank.

Which bit broke Sam? I don't recall a plastic nut on the interior handle?
Rob Bell

Hi Rob,

As I discovered, it's not a nut as such.

The thread is moulded into the body of the handle. This part has broken away, causing the scew to fall out.

I think it must have happened during the winter, when I tried to open the doors when they were stuck fast with ice.

It should have been in the garage, but it got caught outside during a HUGE dump of snow.

:-(

Oh, I think I know what you mean - http://mgf.ultimatemg.com/group2/DIY/exterior/images_door_handle/handle_removed.jpg - where the self tapping screw bites into the exterior handle moulding?

Crumbs, it shows how cold it was - brittle plastic and a fair bit of force I guess?
Rob Bell

Yep, it got down to -20c at some points.

Scorchio now though!!!!
