MG MGF Technical - Door pods (simple question)

Very simple question actually....

I'm going to re-cover my still rather naff cloth door pods, seems like a fairly straight forward job once I get a piece of approriate leather and a staple gun.

However, before attacking the door pods with a prising implement and buggering things up I thought I would just check with you lot.

Is it really that simple of using flat screw driver and a bit of brute force and ignorance. I have a MK1 so I don't have those useful tabs on the reverse of the door card (before anyone suggests this).

Mike Satur did mine and I would say yes fairly easy BUT I think Mike used adhesive.

Actually Tim when I arrived at Mikes Workshops the car was swamped by his minions so I did not see a lot of what was going on - I got full leather seating, door pods, T-Bar gaiters and all done in a leather colour of my choice and a couple of other things as well and the whole exercise took just a couple of hours.

Looks like I'll be attacking the pod with a srewdriver then..... The tool of choice.

Still haven't sorted that Hard top. I have, however, just fitted new window seals the the windscreen so will be adjusting the window to accommodate the gap (I hope).

I was going to do my door pods while taking off the door panel to fit new door pins.

I bought the fabric (yes good quality black vinyl, as this was closest match to existing seats) only to find out that the fabric, with a small amount of foam is bonded directly to panel. The exist fabric is not stretched over a template as I expected. I did not continue, as I didn't feel that I could do good enough job without something to stretch the fabric over.

If anyone has any experience of doing this please let me know how you got on.
TIM

Tim, we use a ABS moulded panel which is leather covered this is 'inserted' where the existing fabric is, after pulling this off first .HTH
We do sell 'em as well!
Mike.

As mentioned not an easy 'stapler' work !!
The original leather from i.e. 1997 is pulled through saw cuts in the door pod and adhered to the panel from the rear.
These gaps don't exist at the fabric covered standard door pods.

Have got pictures of this cuts to the panel anywere, but the MS replacement parts are easier to install in anyway.

Bugger,

What seemed like a great idea at the time is proving less so as time goes on....
