MG MGF Technical - Electric Window Button

HELP!

Last night I decided to change my gear gaitor. I removed the stereo, facia panel, changed the gaitor and reassembled...., but..
The left power window button popped out of its case..

What I am left with is two parts; The button with two nobbly bits on springs in it, and the contact part with four contacts and an LED.
I can put the two together, but the button doesn't spring correctly.. What am I dong wrong?

How do I do it?

Neil H

Sorry Niel, i've never dimantled the buttons, maybe someone else on here has (Will maybe?)

If all else fails you could try to get one from Victoria at the MGF Centre (bound to be cheap).

Not me gov, I beleive they are sold as units, you may well have to ask Vicky at the MGFCentre (I don't suppose she sells a lot of them, so they should be cheap as well as cheap to post)
Will Munns

Well I had high hopes for you two!!
Rob? Step in sunshine... prove yourself!?

Rang Victoria... - she sold me the b&*^dy gear gaitor in the first place!!
£3 - hopefully a done job.

However, theres nothing wrong with my current button..., apart from I can't suss it!

Anyone know?

I opened one up to convert it from locking to non-locking for my electric boot release.

It was fiddly, and didn't work properly the first time I assembled it.

Just needs a bit of perseverence.

Rob is on the Treffen, so i don't think he's available. :-)

Hmmmm, have i got any spare switches i can 'play' with.... Not sure on this one, i'll have to check my 'junk pile' when i get home! :-)

Hopefully i've got one and can help you.

SF <---Fingers crossed.

I have put the blimmin' thing together so many times.. I just can't suss it.

Everytime I upgrade something on my MGF I end up with more broken bits.... :-(
Neil H

Neil, I have taken one of these switches apart in the past - went back together fine :o)

I suspect that you may have lost a part inside the switch when it fell apart. Probably easier to buy a secondhand replacement. Should only cost you a couple of pennies.
