MG MGF Technical - electrical problems!!!!
I have a 97 1.8 BRG Mpi and am having sever electrical problems at the moment. These are as follows: 1. Turn the igntion key to II, most the lights on the dash flash on and off intermitently (SRS, Engine temp etc). 2. Attempt to start the car and there is just a fast clicking sound (it doesnt even turn over!) 3. The central locking works but the door pins move up and down in 4 stages. The car has been parked outside (in the rain) and not been used for 1.5 weeks since getting it back from the rover dealers to replace the drivers side central locking. When i picked it up it was fine but now this happens. Can anybody give me an insight of what the problem might be before i ring up the dealer and b***ock them. Thanks, Craig |

Either a flat battery or a loose battery connector. |

No, no, it's a VERY flat battery! Bruce :¬) |

I think your all wrong and it's a flat battery. The dealer could have left an interior light on, or the lock mech might be faulty and have conned the system into thinking the door was open. Replace the battery, they don't like being run flat. Will |

Craig, Get someone to check the drain from the battery when the car is parked, in case there's a short which is draining the batttery unnecessarily. Otherwise it could happen again in a couple of weeks. Leigh |

> when the car is parked Make that some time after everything has been turned off, the MEMS stays live for some time, and in the past people have found it not switching off and leading to battery drain problems. These people have been very few and far between compaired with the number of people needing replacement batterys. Will |
