MG MGF Technical - Erratic Tickover
This morning I intended replacing a broken window stop aned curing a problem with tickover which varies between 900 and 1500rpm. The window stop was easy but I am baffled by the tickover problem. It's not the ECU temperature sensor (400 ohms with a warm engine) or its connector. It's not a sticky throttle and it's not a throttle position sensor needing resetting. Any ideas?

Idle control valve either sticking or suffering a poor connection? Elderly block connectors benefit from a dose of contact spray once in a while.

Not the connector to the idle control valve, so maybe the valve itself which I cleaned as far as I could.

As I still have a problem, I am just refreshhing this query to bring it to the top again.
