MG MGF Technical - Four legged hose.....

MG TF 2003 Model, non VVC.

Heater / coolant hose replacement.

Having a broken hose (on the T piece) I ordered a new replacement hose. The only one I can see listed is the PEH100790, however whilst 90% correct, there is a considerable difference at the bottom with differing hose size and hose angle.

What experiences have others had and what did you do to get around the problem.....?

Cheers,
Mark.

Nothing more suitable listed on the on-line EPC Mark? http://www.mgfcar.de/epc

Is your car an automatic?
Ralph Gadsby

Ralph, yes this particulat car is the Stepspeed model... The replacement hose is, as far as I can find, the only hose listed. I have a '99 F in the workshop at the moment with the same type of replacement hose sold to me for a '03 TF.

Either the parts information over here is not good or stock is limited.

Any more information will be welcomed.

If you go to the Rimmer Bros Site http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk you will see PEH101740 for the Automatic is No Longer Available.

Holey cow! We need to look into this ASAP! I'd be a disaster is cars were written off just because a coolant hose was no longer available!?!

Mark, drop Rimmers a query and let me know, and I'll see who else may be able to help. Mike Satur already does a silicone aftermarket hose replacement kit - and perhaps he could be persuaded to look into getting something similar made for Stepspeed owners.

Is this the pipe for which a Stainless Steel aftermarket version is available for Mpi/VVC ????
A cut and weld version may be good for the Automatic.

Geoff, this is the rubber hose on the passenger side (LH) of the engine.
Ralph Gadsby

I've spoken to Rimmers - this looks to be a very low volume part - indeed the service staff don't believe that they've ever been asked for one.

Looking at the page on Rimmer's website (http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-GRID000024) it appears that there are a number of NLA hoses.

Question is, is there any value to get any of these remanufactured?
Rob Bell

I got by after modifying hose PEH100790.

It is my opinion that hose replacement should be routine after HGF as oil contamination inside the hoses (especially the joints) WILL rot the rubber and before too long a hose failure WIll happen.

The Silicone hose set would be the obvious way to go...
