MG MGF Technical - Front Bumper
I need to take the front bumper off my 96 VVC, in order to fit a new metal grill and MG Logo badge. Can anyone give me some advice / tips on the best way of removal and refitting and what tools are required. I have searched the archive, but to no avail. Many thanks. Andy |

Try Scarlets site for excellent instructions http://members.aol.com/_ht_a/ap1000000/techemain.htm Pretty straight forward stuff actually. I removed mine to replace the grills a few weeks ago. All on and off in about 35 minutes. Good luck Tim |

Andy, Try Martin Wood's site. He did a stainless steel grill/nose job once. http://freespace.virgin.net/martin.woods/nose_job/nose.htm Best of luck, Peter |

Tim, Peter, Will Many thanks, for the advice, looks like I will be busy next weekend! Currently I have the standard black mesh grills, which are stone chipped, has anyone repainted theirs and if so what paint and preparation was used? Regards Andy |

Whilst you,ve got the bumper off check the rad for signs of rust. Another litte worry we have to contend with! |

I cleaned the muck off the front grill and cleaned it with white spirit. Then I sprayed a little satin black into a paint lid and used a small brush to brush it onto the grill - all with the bumper still on. It looks fine now. Satin black is best - gloss is too, well, glossy and matt black is 'orrible. Steve |

The worst thing about removing the bumper are the indicators.... they could get broken. |
