MG MGF Technical - FSE Power Boost Valve - 'O' rings

Fitting a FSE Power Boost Valve and after 1 hour managed to get out the standard OEM pressure valve. It had 4 brown rings - two on the valve itself and 2 left in the 'holder'. They looked exactly the same size as the two on the valve itself. All 4 coloured brown.

Before fitting the FSE replacement connector, should there be 2 or 4 'O' rings? My gut feel 2 rings. The FSE connector comes with 2 black rings already so I would have thought this was sufficient without any of the existing brown 'O' rings.
Julian

Julian,

don't ask me why, but at this car we did in the two only.
Remove all brown O-rings.

LOL :)
Is yours a VVC ? MPI is easy (more or less)
Anyway, you will wonder how long it will take to put back the ring-clamp :)
Dieter

Many thanks Dieter. It is a VVC and was a real pain!!

As for getting teh ring clamp back, stop teasing! I am wondering along it will take to get back!
Julian

Use the FSE 2 black O-rings only, be sure to place a clean rag under the istallation before startup. Remove after a few minutes run and smell if any traces of petrol ! The leak here can be VERY faint ,but lethal..
If the FSE is orderd for your specific car,no need to do anything. If a "generic" unit a rolling road session getīs the best out of the adjustments.
Carl Blom

Good advice Carl. I have the specifiv version for a VVC plus I have the meter so it will be interested to see what bar it has been set at. I do not intend to use a rolling road but to set to 3.1 bar.

;-)

My very best wishes are with you.
Good luck with it.

Dieter

It took me 1.5 hours to fit the adapter this evening!
Julian

Probably a bit late now Julian, but you might find these pages helpful :o)

Rob - not too late as I had these very instructions infront of me as I was doing it!! Like all these jobs once the clip came out, the light dawned as I saw exactly what the clip looked like. Second time around (if I bother again) it will be much easier!
JUlian

LOL!

That clip's a nightmare really. Ideally you need a little tool to push out the spring retainers while you rotate the thing out of the way...
