MG MGF Technical - Good News, Bad News.

Good News, all the bits for my remote pressure sensitve 'stat have arived (4 Months). Bad News. Dealer reckons they won't fit! Problem joining to heater pipes. One pipe too short, plus wrong diameter. At the moment, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that something is wrong/missing,as opposed to them not knowing how to do the job.Has anybody any experience of fitting this set up? When dealer spoke to MG tec'they said that they had "Tweaked?" the heater pipes?, but won't get any details now before tuesday.Anybody help? Regards.

Techspeed seemed to have little problem fitting the PRT and associated hoses to my '98 VVC. The connections to the heater hoses have changed, but with the right bits from the new hose setup all AFAIK is straightforward. I'm not aware of any diameter or length changes.

For advice speak to Greg at Techspeed who did the job for me.

Thanks Dave, I do remember reading your thread, and thought at the time that it seemed a straightforward job. Started to get suspicious after the ominous silence from the dealer after having my car two days. Will try and contact Techspeed tomorrow. Thanks again.

I think Techspeed are at Mallory Park this weekend, so you may find there's no-one around at Eathorpe.

Anyway, I hope you get it sorted.

What can I say. Dealer has had car since last thursday, get a phone call today at3pm, car is ready.Go to pick up car, and I am told that they have had to build it back to standard, as they could not get the parts to fit!!!!!Blamed MG Tec' for not ringing them back.At that point I thought "Fc**k the PRT 'stat".Started to drive home, after about 3 miles, met standing traffic, after no longer than 2 minutes, temp guage starts to shoot up!!!drove into a side street, and gauge dropped.Drove back to dealer with guage reading normal."Sounds like an air lock" Oh Yeah!!!!!!WTF!!!. "You'll have to leave it with us".I just hope the head gasket's not damaged. How do these people get away with it? Needless to say I won't be using them again.Funny thing is, I was going to drive home, jump onto Rob's site, and bleed it myself, to be sure!Don't know whether to slash my wrists, or resort to the funny cigarettes and Newcastle Brown! Regards.

What a nightmare Roy! :o(

Have you still got the PRT parts? If so I am sure that Techspeed will be able you help you out!
Rob Bell

arse.

monkeys the lot of them. now you have to wait 6 months to see if the gasket has been weakened :-(

'Fraid Dealer has got the parts, they were doing it for me FOC, after my earlier HGF (Thanks MGR), so I can't complain on that front. The "mechanic?"is still saying he will do it if he can get some info off MGR.I don't think so. Car is still under warranty,so at the moment I'll have to stick with MGR Dealers. It is a bit rich when there are people like MS and Techspeed out there who would in all probability save MGR money on warranty work as opposed to their incompetent dealers.I just hope it's not bad news tomorrow, covered by warranty yes, but so bloody tiresome,'specially when it was running like a train, temp rock steady, high speed, lengthy jams et al.Might be a moral there, leave well alone. One amusing aspect is that I was reminded of the Rock Chick I married so many years ago as she let rip in the showroom, WOWEEE! never seen so many RED faces! Sorry, rambling on a bit. Regards.

Yes, but at least you've not been given that old chesnut... "They all do that m8" ... so far.

"Yes, but at least you've not been given that old chesnut... "They all do that m8" ... "
John,do you mean rock chicks or MGR dealers??;-))
Roy,"Don't know whether to slash my wrists, or resort to the funny cigarettes and Newcastle Brown!"
The latter of course!!It always helps;-)

Got the car back this morning....profuse apologies etc. Temp' now steady, as previous, but I did leave it running for 30 mins on the forecourt, just to make sure, before I left. Now what do I do about the PRT, when(if?) they ring saying that they have the info' on how to fit it? Did I just say leave well alone!!?. Oh bugger it, where's the Rizla's, bottle opener, and that Led Zep L.P. Regards. P.S. thanks for moral support.
