MG MGF Technical - Hardtop Compatibility

I'm just checking that a hard top from a 1998 MGF will fit on a 2001 MGF?

I expect they are compatible, but I just thought I'd check. Mind you, it's too late now, I snapped one up on ebay for £475!

Yep, all MG hardtops will fit all MGFs and TFs.

There are different relay & switch combinations for the heated rear screen, though, so when you buy the kit you'll need to make sure you're getting the right one.
Ian Matheson

Thanks.

And if the relay/switch happens to be different, I assume that's easily rectified?
Chris Heinrich Perkins

Guten Tag Herr Perkins
Totally compatible between F & TF.
Be sure to check all hardtop fittings are tight and also check the pieces they attach to in the car.

You can buy replacement hardtop rubbers if required.
My 96 hardtop fits my 99 car. You paid a very fair price, well done.

Just specify the model (yours is a Mk 2 MGF) the switch and relay are different in all respects.

Ok, so they'll be a bit different. But there's not much need for a heated windscreen at this time of year, so I'll hopefully be able to get those things swapped over before winter.

The seller stated that it had hardly been used and had been kept in his garage, so hopefully it'll be a good'un.

(I'm not actually German by the way....How many Germans would say "good'un" ?)
