MG MGF Technical - hardtop lineing drop

first things first sorry for my outburst today question rear wheel drive. what was i thinking.
anyway my hardtop lining is droping any ideals how to make it stay up..

thanks guys
darren jeffery

Darren, my comment was posted as a jest and I hope you subsequently took it as one.

Hopefully somebody will be along soon with the right spec but I suspect you are going to have to get behind the lining and glue it back. You'll need something like a fabric glue that don't soak through and stain.

Taking the top off and reglueing(sp?)is the best way but if it is just a small area some strong double sided tape might do - try your local carpet shop? Is the lining fabric or leather? dont pull and stretch it if is fabric as it will never look right again.
Tony

How big is the area ?? Can you get to it without major removal to fit double sided tape ??
A long time ago we fixd a 'B' hardtop using an industrial hypedermic syringe to inject glue behind the fabric. The top was obviously on the bench upside down. By pushing the needle through at an angle, the glue was injected away from the holes so that it could be spread using a sponge without it coming out again.
I now have the same job to do to our Sunbeam Stiletto where the lining is glued to the roof but I cannot turn it upside down. A packet of plasticine, a sheet of polythene and a vacuum pump are required !!

I am leaving their brochure open at the NBN Chassis Tilter Page hoping that Father Christmas thinks that I have been a good boy this year.

May have to add a set of 'F' Adaptors !!

Hi thanks for your comments the lining is fabric. tried double sideded white tape no joy. when heat hits the top it goes back up when the damp comes it drops 8-(
darren jeffery

chatting to a guy at work and he thinks pva glue would be ok to hold the lining up. and he thinks it will not stain any ideas on this method
anyone tried this out

happy motoring

Has anyone removed the hood (roof) lining from a GT.
If so what is the procedure to remove without damaging?
Thanks
